Zelda was on the outskirts of the forest, close to the little village by the lake. Dressed in her cloak to ward of the chill in the air, and carrying a woven basket she had found with only a couple holes, she was engaging in an activity she had only ever heard about.
Foraging.
Her quest to locate edible food in the forest was marred by two fearsome opponents: hunger and ignorance. There was no shortage of bushes in the forest, their branches laden with ripe fruit and bowing under the weight. Plenty of trees were bursting with clusters of seeds and nuts waiting for a gust of wind to drop them to the ground. But Zelda hadn't the slightest idea which to pick from and which to ignore, so she had settled for gathering a little bit of everything. Into her basket, its holes plugged with her scarf, went a few berries from this bush and a few from that one. Some big round nuts that she suspected were acorns, some oblong ones in green shells. A couple of little red apples from a tree, and a few even smaller green apples from the ground by a different tree.
The strange orange streak had flown overhead twice since Zelda went out to gather. But the third time she caught side of it out of the corner of her eye, it didn't just whisk out of sight. She looked up from what she was doing and saw that it had stopped and was hovering in midair. It looked vaguely... person-shaped? Zelda shielded her eyes from the sun with one hand to get a better look. It was a person, a man floating in the air like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Though he was far away, Zelda could see the movement of his head as he moved around. Was he searching for something? She couldn't help but continue to stare, wondering if he was real or if the sunlight was making her see things.
